The Cate Kyne Women's Poetry Prize

Terms and Conditions

 

The Cate Kyne Women’s Poetry Prize was established in 2019 in memorial of Darebin resident, poet and community activist Cate Kyne, who bequeathed $1,000 towards the advancement of women’s poetry. The competition is open to all residents of the Darebin region of Victoria who identify as women or gender diverse. The prize will run over two years.

Prizes

  • The prize will run annually for two years and the winner will receive:

  • $250 cash

  • $250 worth of Australian women's poetry books

  • 2 poetry mentoring sessions with poet, Jeltje Fanoy.

Submissions

  • Submit up to 3 poems (max 50 lines each) in a word document  

  • Submission forms can be found here and include a file upload of your work

  • All styles and forms of poetry accepted

  • There are no guidelines on topics or subject matter, except for profanity, defamation or plagiarised material

  • By entering the prize, poets agree that all work submitted is entirely their own original work

  • Published work is acceptable, but If work is previously published, please include acknowledgement

  • By entering, poets agree to have their poem, name and image displayed online in association with the event if they win

30th September 2019, 5pm

Award Ceremony

A free event, held at Girls on Key Melbourne, Open Studio, 204 High Street, Northcote. All poets who entered will receive free entry to the event.
